There are kitchens, and there are temples. Some practitioners are more like chefs who work exclusively on the physical body, expertly manipulating the material matter. Other practitioners are more like healers who work on the emotional and spiritual bodies, touching into the heart and soul of the matter.
I dance between both, but have a natural inclination towards the latter, with clients calling my work a "transcendent experience". My clients benefit from physical relief and improvement from issues like frozen shoulder, low back pain, tension headaches, tight hamstrings and more; some have also had emotional epiphanies, one client healed part of a birth trauma, one finally conceived after years of trying, and just about everyone drifts into a blissful altered state.
As a massage therapist I thoroughly tend to the physical body, incorporating Swedish strokes, Thai stretches, Shiatsu meridian work, Lomi Lomi strokes, and site specific deep tissue work. As an energy worker I make intentional contact with the nervous system to encourage the unwinding of stories and tension held in the cells and tissue of the body, often connected to trauma, memories, and limiting beliefs.
Seamlessly combining these pieces, part chef, part healer, is my special offering.
I am a licensed NY State Massage Therapist, a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist and an Usui Reiki Master. I have extensive training in the healing arts, including Eastern & Western massage, Movement based Expressive Art Therapy, Yoga Dance, and Lomi Lomi.
In addition to my private practice is in Kingston, New York, I offer massage to Conservatory students at Bard College once a week, and also work, for over seven years now, as the massage therapist on Bard campus for students, staff & faculty. More recently, and with deep gratitude, I have begun working with clients in hospice care. This summer I am thrilled to be working part-time back at the Omega Institute, where I started over fifteen years ago.
Testimonials
Having a healing massage with Christine transported me. I wasn't expecting the grace - almost a type of dance - that infused her work. I could feel the flow of energy moving through my meridians as she deftly worked them to bring a deep sea change to my body. I felt wonderful afterwards. The massage was a poetic experience! - Annie Bond, award-winning and best selling author.
I do not have enough good words to say about Christine’s compassionate, therapeutic touch. She made the last few weeks of an uncomfortable pregnancy infinitely more tolerable, and then generously came to my home for two postpartum massages in the week following a difficult labor. If I could grant every postpartum woman a massage from Christine, I would: she resolved the nerve and muscle pain that were keeping me from sleeping when the newborn slept, and allowed me to truly relax during the beautiful but challenging first postpartum days. - Maria S.
Thank you Christine! I am feeling so good today. You are the only therapist I have found who can release the tension in my neck. I am convinced you have healing hands. With enhanced physical health I am also feeling better mentally today, and that is a great blessing. - Wendy W. I am a musician & dancer, and twice now, Christine has saved me from pain and stiffness so debilitating I could not play my guitar. It is always a pleasure, and an honor, to connect with a body worker who "hears" my concerns and needs, and adjusts her attention and touch accordingly. Highly recommended. - Joan Elena Goldberg
Christine is one of the most sensitive souls that healed me in many ways through her massage and her loving hands. Highly recommended! - Silvia Cadena
Your hands are magic, they're taking my pain away! -Jeff in hospice care
